Orchid Noob

I have a few orchids, given to me by my sister. This one just began to bloom for the first time since it came home with me. I am still in the process of looking up which one it is. It’s so pretty I am too eager to post it to wait until I know its name. I’ll update when I find out.

Never mind. It’s not an orchid. I’ve been told by my sister, who received it from a friend, that it is related to irises. Sooner or later, we’ll find out EXACTLY what it is called. Make that “iris noob”.

OK – here is the final answer from a horticulturist friend: “WALKING IRIS — NEOMARICA GRACILIS — Very Unusual. The Walking Iris is native to Brazil thru Mexico” Thank you, Flora. I keep watching it, but it hasn’t walked anywhere yet.
